Tunnel Diodes
A tunnel diode is a type of Semiconductor Diode that has effectively "negative resistance" due to the quantum mechanical effect called tunneling. Tunnel diodes are fabricated on Germanium substrate with passivated, planer construction. Bonding contacts and back of the die has gold metalization. Tunnel diodes are designed to operate up to +110C. The back diode with wide IP range, offering varying degrees of sensitivity and video impedance, is generally operated with zero output bias and generally known for very good temperature stability and fast video rise time. Semiglobal IP grouping to 25 μA window allows our customer to build products with more narrow specifications.
